Court Budget Challenges: We want your ideas
Iowa's Budget Problem
Iowans
are cutting expenses and so must government.
Because of Iowa's unprecedented shortfall in revenue, the governor and
legislature are cutting the budgets of state funded programs and entities,
including the budget of the Iowa Judicial Branch—the state's court system. The Iowa Judicial Branch has already
undertaken a number of cost-cutting measures to reduce its expenditures for the
current fiscal year (FY 09). Deeper cuts
will be necessary for the fiscal year that begins July 1, 2009. Regrettably, these budget cuts will inevitably
reduce court services to Iowans.
