The following persons have submitted applications for appointment as District Court Judge for the Seventh Judicial District:

The appointment is occasioned by the retirement of District Judge James E. Kelley.  In accordance with Iowa's merit system for judicial selection, the Seventh District's Judicial Nominating Commission will meet in formal session on Friday, February 11, 2011, to interview the candidates and nominate two of them for the position.  The interview portion of the meetings is open to the public.  Candidates' applications are available for viewing at:

Iowa's Governor will then select one of them for the judgeship. 

  

The Seventh District includes Scott, Clinton, Muscatine, Cedar, and Jackson counties.  The Nominating Commission consists of eleven persons from the District, five of whom are elected by the lawyers and five of whom are appointed by the Governor.  The longest serving judge is the chairperson.
