Supreme Court 2011-2013 Calendar
Des
Moines, November 14, 2011—The
Iowa Supreme Court has adjusted its schedule, by organizing it into two terms. Under
the new schedule, the court will hear arguments and issue decisions in 10-month
adjudicative terms that will run from September through June. Following
the adjudicative term, the court will have a two-month administrative term that
will run from July through August.
During
each adjudicative term, the court will hold 17 to 18 days of oral arguments
from September through April. Under its prior schedule, the court held
approximately the same number of oral argument days, but spread them out from
September through June. In addition, the court will continue to hold case,
screening, further review, and administrative conferences throughout the term,
but plans to meet more frequently for case conferences in May and
June. The court expects to issue a decision in most cases submitted during
the term by the end of the term—June 30.
During
each administrative term (July through August), the court will concentrate on
administrative matters such as matters involving the administration of the
state court system and the study and review of court rules.
The
court's calendars
for its 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 terms are attached.
