James H. Andreasen (1987 - 1998)

Appointed to the Iowa Supreme Court November 13, 1987, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Justice Charles R. Wolle. He is the 100th justice to serve on the Iowa Supreme Court.

Born May 16, 1931, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Iowa in 1953 and his J.D. degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1958. He served in the U.S. Air Force 1954-1956 and in the Reserves 1956-76. He practiced law in Algona, Iowa, from 1958 until his appointment as district judge for the Third Judicial District in 1975. He served on the Algona City Council from 1961 to 1969, and on several committees of the Iowa Supreme Court and State Bar.
