Position Summary

The Desktop Application Support Analyst’s role is to deliver support to the judicial branch’s employees about how to use various types of desktop software programs efficiently and effectively in fulfilling business objectives. This includes troubleshooting applications and software for all internal court staff.

Responsibilities

Field incoming problem tickets from end users to resolve application and software issues.

Use the call tracking system to document the entire problem-solving process, from issue description, decisions made, successful and unsuccessful actions taken, to final resolution. Record, track, and document the problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution.

Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent repeated future problems.

Maintain and enhance performance of all new and existing software and applications across the branch.

Identify and learn appropriate software applications used and supported by the branch.

Coordinate with end users to assess departmental application training needs and objectives.

Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.

Provide guidance to junior members of the team.

Conduct research into software application products and services in support of purchasing efforts.

Provide support for the testing of new and existing software applications under consideration for purchase.

Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.

Perform preventative maintenance, including the installation of service packs, patches, hot fixes, anti-virus software, and so on.

Other duties as assigned.   

Requirements

At least three years of relevant experience. 

OR

A combination of two years of relevant full-time experience and one year of education.

OR

A combination of one year of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

One year of education equals thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work.

 

Experience with Microsoft Office products and support, including SharePoint and SharePoint administration a plus.

Experience with IBM Notes, including administration and support a plus.

In-depth, hands-on knowledge of and experience with enterprise and desktop applications.

Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.

Able to develop and interpret technical documentation for training and end user procedures.

Knowledge of trends in technology relating to software applications.

Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly.

Ability to present ideas and communicate in both technical and user-friendly language.

Understanding of the branch’s goals and objectives.

Highly self-motivated and directed.

Keen attention to detail.

Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Exceptional customer service skills, with a focus on relationship building, listening, and questioning skills.

Some travel may be required for meeting with vendors, suppliers, service providers, or offsite contractors.

Able to lift and transport heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for all positions that require travel.

Occasional after hours work as needed.
