8th Judicial District - Primarily assigned to District Court Judge Greg Milani, but may be assigned to work for any Judicial Officer in the 8th Judicial District per operational needs and may require travel. Domicile to be determined depending on candidate selected.
$54,704.00 - $84,822.40 annually

Takes court testimony and proceedings by shorthand reporting methods. Reads back court testimony and proceedings upon request. Makes verbatim typed record of testimony and proceedings as required. Prepares transcripts, performs general office work and provides substantial clerical support for the court. Marks and records exhibits during court proceedings. Electronic document filing is required in all District 8 counties, so a high level of computer proficiency is essential. Performs related work as determined by the Chief Judge or supervising judicial officer or designee. Specific primary assignment(s) as designated by the District Court Administrator.
Graduation from an accredited high school (GED); graduation from a school of court reporting with courses including legal and medical terminology, English, typing and law. Must be certified as a court reporter by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters*.
*Certification is preferred, but competent candidates without certification are encouraged to apply with the understanding that they must receive certification within six months of beginning employment pursuant to Iowa Code Section 602.6603(4).
Final candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check.
