Position Title

Official Certified Shorthand Reporter

Location

8th Judicial District – Primarily assigned to District Court Judge Myron Gookin but may be assigned to work for any Judicial Officer in the 8th Judicial District per operational needs and may require travel.  Domicile to be determined depending on candidate selected.

Salary

Pay Grade 30, $51,958.40 - $80,558.40 annually, plus State of Iowa benefits including IPERS retirement program; health, dental and life insurance; deferred compensation program, flexible spending accounts plus paid vacation, sick leave and holidays.

Responsibilities

The reporter will record court testimony via standard methods, prepare transcripts and provide general office and clerical support for the court.

Requirements

Requirements or Minimum Qualification

Graduation from high school (GED); graduation from a school of court reporting with courses including legal and medical terminology, English, typing and law. Certification as a court reporter by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters preferred, Must be certified as a court reporter by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters, or obtain certification within six months of date of hire.
