Official Certified Shorthand Reporter
Fifth Judicial District primarily assigned to work for 5A and 5B Judges and Senior Judges in the Fifth Judicial District.
May be required to work for any Judicial Officer in the Fifth Judicial District per operational needs and will require travel.
The position is for two days per week. The hourly salary range is $24.98 to $38.73 per hour. The position is not benefit eligible.
Graduation from high school (GED); graduation from a school of court reporting with courses including legal and medical terminology, English, typing and law. Must be certified as a court reporter by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters or become certified within six months of hire.
Takes court testimony and proceedings by shorthand reporting methods. Reads back court testimony and proceedings upon request. Makes verbatim typed records of such testimony and proceedings as required. Prepares transcripts, performs general office work and provide substantial clerical support for the court. Marks and records exhibits during court proceedings. Electronic document filing is required in all District 5 counties, so a high level of computer proficiency is essential. Performs related work as determined by the supervising judicial officer or the chief judge or his designee. Specific primary assignment(s) as designated by the District Court Administrator.
