Official Certified Shorthand Reporter
Sixth Judicial District, primarily assigned to work for District Court Judge Paul Miller in the Johnson County Courthouse in Iowa City, Iowa. This position serves the counties of Johnson, Linn, Jones, Iowa, Benton and Tama. Travel to other counties within the district is required.
$53,580.80 - $83,075.20 annually
Eligible for State of Iowa benefits
Takes court testimony and proceedings by shorthand reporting methods. Read back court testimony and proceedings upon request. Makes verbatim typed records of such testimony and proceedings as required. Marks and records exhibits during court proceedings. Prepares transcripts, performs general office work and provides substantial clerical support for the court. Performs other related work as determined by the supervising judicial officer, the chief judge or their designee.
Graduation from high school (GED); graduation from a school of court reporting with courses including legal and medical terminology, English, typing and law. Must be certified as a court reporter by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters or become certified within six months of hire.
