Iowa Judicial Branch Court Navigator Services
Iowa Court Navigators are available, by appointment, to assist anyone representing themselves in a civil case with court forms and information to help with a civil court case.
Court Navigators provide one-on-one assistance to people representing themselves in a civil court case who are seeking basic assistance and information about civil cases. Navigators receive training on the information that can be provided to court clients. Court Navigators are not lawyers, and they cannot provide legal or personal advice to court clients.
Court Navigators can provide assistance with the following civil case types:
- Family Law Cases (divorce, child support, child custody)
- Small Claims
- Forcible Entry and Detainer (eviction, landlord-tenant disputes)
- Mental Health and Substance Abuse Commitments
- Protective Orders (domestic abuse, sexual abuse, elder abuse)
Court Navigators can help you with:
- Locating and completing civil court forms
- Electronic filing (E-filing)
- Information regarding legal services and community resources
- Basic information about the civil court process

In-person appointments are only available at the Scott County Courthouse. Video appointments use Microsoft Teams. You can join from a computer, tablet, or smartphone. You will get a link before your appointment with simple instructions on how to join.
Court Navigators are available during the following times:
Video Appointments (via Teams) beginning February 16, 2026:
- Mondays – 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Tuesdays – 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Wednesdays – 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Thursdays – 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
In-Person Appointments (Scott County Courthouse in Davenport only) beginning February 18, 2026:
- Wednesdays: 1:00 – 4:00 PM
