Case No. 21-0854

Shelley Barnes and Cameron Barnes
v.
CDM Rentals, LLC

Shelley and Cameron Barnes seek further review of a court of appeals’ opinion affirming the district court’s grant of summary judgment in favor of CDM Rentals, LLC. The Barnes brought suit after Shelley slipped and fell on a driveway of the apartment that the Barnes were leasing from CDM. The Barnes argue the lease imposed a contractual duty and the Iowa Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act, codified at Iowa Code chapter 526A, imposed a statutory duty on CDM to maintain the driveway.
