State of Iowa
v.
Gerry Harland Greenland
Defendant appealed the district court judgment and sentences entered on his convictions for attempt to commit murder of a peace officer, assault on a peace officer with intent to cause serious injury and while using a dangerous weapon, and assault. See Iowa Code §§ 707.11, 708.1(2), 708.3A (2019). Defendant contended his convictions are not supported by substantial evidence that he was aware his actions were directed at a peace officer or that he acted with the intent to assault or attempt to murder a peace officer. He also contended the sentences for attempt to commit murder of a peace officer and assault on a peace officer should have merged. The court of appeals affirmed. Defendant seeks further review.
