John Sullivan

District Court Judge

Judge Sullivan was appointed to the district court bench in  December 2021. He received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University in 1993 and his Juris Doctorate from Creighton University School of Law in 1996. Prior to his appointment, Judge Sullivan clerked in Judicial District 1B from 1996-1998, worked as an associate at Laird & Luhring in Waverly, Iowa from 1998-2000, was the Assistant Fayette County Attorney from 2000-2002 and Assistant Woodbury County Attorney from 2002-2005, was the sole practitioner at Sullivan law Office from 2005-2021, and was appointed as a magistrate for Fayette County from 2006-2021. Judge Sullivan is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association and the Rotary Club of Oelwein, Iowa.
