Magistrate Karen Thalacker Magistrate Thalacker was appointed to serve Bremer County in August of 2009. She graduated from Wartburg College in 1988, and received her law degree from Drake University Law School. She served as an Assistant County Attorney in Black Hawk County from 1991 - 1994, was in private practice from 1994 - 2000, has been a Lecturer in Public Law at Wartburg College since 1997, and has practiced with a law firm since 2006. Magistrate Thalacker is a member of the Bremer County and Iowa State Bar Associations.
