Magistrate Karen Mailander was appointed in 2013 to serve as Audubon County Magistrate. She served as the magistrate in Cass County from 2013-June 30, 2021 and was appointed to be the magistrate in Audubon County on July 1, 2021.She earned her undergraduate in Biology in 1980 from Creighton University and her law degree from Creighton Law School in 1983. Her previous professional experience includes serving as Cass County Magistrate from 1985 to 1991 and again from 2000 to 2001. Magistrate Mailander was an Associate at Howard, Rutherford and Mailander and became Partner of Mailander Law Office in 2002. She belongs to the Iowa State Bar Association, SW Iowa Bar Association, Cass County Bar Association and SW Iowa Mediation Center.
