Judge Reis, West Des Moines, became a district associate judge in 1995 and a district judge in 1998. She was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, raised in Monroe, and graduated from the University of Iowa, where she received her B.S. in 1969, and M.S.W. in 1976, and J.D., with distinction, degree in 1976. Judge Reis worked in state government, taught at Drake Law School, and practiced law prior to becoming a judge. Judge Reis was named an Honorary Barrister by the Order of Barristers, and received the Iowa State Bar Association Community Service Award in 2001. In 2000, Judge Reis received the Friend of Children Award from the Iowa School Social Workers Association in 2000. Judge Reis was formerly the presiding Judge for Peer Review Court and the Truancy Court Judge for Polk County.
