Joel A. Walker

Magistrate: Muscatine County

Magistrate Joel Walker was appointed to serve Muscatine County in 2019.  After graduating from West High School in Davenport, he earned an Associate’s Degree from Scott Community College in Bettendorf in 1995; a Bachelor’s Degree from St. Ambrose University in Davenport in 1998; and a Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan in 2004.  He served as an Assistant Clinton County Attorney from 2005 – 2007 before entering private practice. In 2007, he opened his own practice, the Law Office of Joel Walker, P.C., and has work in private practice ever since.  He is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association and the Scott County Bar Association where he served on Executive Council from 2013- 2018 and he volunteered as a Mock Trial Coach for the All Saints Catholic School Junior High School Mock Trial Team from 2008- 2015.  He is a participating volunteer attorney with Iowa Legal Aid’s Pro Bono Program and was the winner of the William B. Waterman Volunteer Attorney of the Year Award.  He is married with two children.
