Judicial Nominating Commission Selects Nominees (June 22, 2018)
The Seventh Judicial District Judicial Nominating Commission has certified to Governor Kim Reynolds and Chief Justice Mark Cady the names of the following two applicants nominated by the Commission: Mark Fowler and Barbara Wallace. The Governor has 30 days within which to appoint one of the nominees to the District Court bench. The appointment is occasioned by the retirement of District Court Judge Mark J. Smith.
Mark Fowler of Bettendorf, Iowa, received his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law. He currently serves as a District Associate Judge with the Seventh Judicial District.
Barbara Wallace of Davenport, Iowa, received her law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law. She is currently employed in the private practice of law.
The Seventh Judicial District includes Cedar, Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine and Scott Counties. The Nominating Commission consists of eleven persons from the District, five of whom are elected by the lawyers and five of whom are appointed by the Governor.
