Magistrate Joseph P. Goedken, Ottumwa, was appointed to serve Davis County in 2023. He earned his undergraduate degree from Loras College, (Dubuque, IA) in Psychology and Business (minor), cum laude in 2002, and his law degree from Drake University Law School in 2005. Magistrate Goedken is a partner at Orsborn, Mitchell & Goedken, P.C. where he has a private practice, including providing mediation services. Magistrate Goedken is also the defense counsel for both Drug Court and Mental Health Court in District 8A. He is a member of the Wapello County Bar Association, Iowa State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He has been active in many roles within the Iowa State Bar Association, including being a past president of the Young Lawyer Division. He is married to Dr. Rachel Goedken, DPT, and has two daughters.
