Case No. 16-1112

State of Iowa
v.
Jason Gene Weitzel

Defendant appealed from the judgment and sentence entered on his guilty-plea-based convictions for domestic abuse assault, possession of methamphetamine (second offense), carrying weapons, and operating while intoxicated. The court of appeals vacated the convictions and sentences and remanded for further proceedings, finding the guilty pleas invalid because defendant had not been adequately advised of the surcharges that would be imposed with the fines, pursuant to Iowa Code chapter 911. The State seeks further review.
