Case No. 17-1453

State of Iowa
v.
Peter Leroy Veal

Peter Veal appeals from his convictions for two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempt to commit murder. Veal argues the jury pools were unconstitutional, his right to a speedy trial was violated, and he was denied a fair trial due to prosecutorial misconduct. He further argues the district court erred by overruling his Batson challenge, denying his motion for a new competency hearing, ruling on several evidentiary issues, and denying his motion for judgment of acquittal and motion for new trial.
