Case No. 18-0437

State of Iowa
v.
Kenneth Edward Petty

Kenneth Petty appeals from his convictions for lascivious acts with a child and sexual exploitation of a minor. Petty argues the district court erred (1) in denying his motion in arrest of judgment because he was not fully informed of the consequences of his guilty plea, (2) and denied Petty the right to counsel by failing to thoroughly inquire into the breakdown in the attorney-client relationship, (3) in failing to determine his reasonable ability to pay the costs of legal representation and court costs, and (4) when it entered an illegal sentence imposing the sexual abuse victim surcharge.
