Case No. 18-0567

Larry R. Hedlund
v.
State of Iowa, et al.

Larry Hedlund appeals from the district court’s grant of summary judgment to the defendants on his wrongful discharge claim under Iowa’s whistleblower statute, and his claims for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and age discrimination. On appeal, Hedlund argues the availability of an administrative remedy under Iowa Code section 80.15 does not preclude him from bringing a whistleblower action under Iowa Code section 70A.28. Hedlund further claims he presented sufficient evidence that a reasonable fact finder could find the defendants discriminated against him based on his age and could find the defendants’ conduct was sufficiently outrageous.
