Case No. 21-0744

State of Iowa
v.
Ronald James Brimmer

Defendant appeals from the judgment and sentence entered on his conviction for second-degree sexual abuse. See Iowa Code § 709.3(1)(c)(2019). Defendant contends: (1) the evidence was insufficient to support his conviction under section 709.3(1)(c) because the evidence did not establish he was aided or abetted by one or more persons in the commission of the sex act; and (2) the district court violated his federal and state constitutional right to a public trial by closing the trial to the public and members of his family due to concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic.
