Case No. 22-1234

State of Iowa
v.
Chase Robert Griffin

The State sought and was granted discretionary review of a district court order granting suppression of evidence obtained during a traffic stop. The district concluded the troopers committed a mistake of law when they illegally stopped Chase Griffin’s vehicle for a tinted plate cover. The State asserts the stop was justified by violation of Iowa Code sections 321.37 and 321.38 regarding the visibility of an auto’s registration plate, and suppression was erroneous.
