Plaintiff landowners, who allege defendant trustees of three drainage districts engaged in acts of intentional, willful, wanton and/or reckless misconduct causing plaintiffs financial harm, appeal from a district court order dismissing their action for punitive damages. See Iowa Code § 468.526A (2023). They contend the court erred in dismissing their suit on grounds the trustee defendants owe no fiduciary duties to individual landowners in the drainage districts.
