Case No. 20-0023

Mark H. Andrew, M.D.
v.
Hamilton County Public Hospital d/b/a Van Diest Medical Center

an action brought by a physician terminated from employment at a hospital, the hospital requests interlocutory review of an order which denied portions of the hospital’s motion for summary judgment on the physician's claims for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, defamation, libel per se, and violation of the Iowa Wage Payment Collection Act. The hospital contends the district court erred: (1) in denying it a summary judgment on the defamation claims; (2) in holding the compensation plaintiff may have earned, had the hospital terminated the agreement “without cause,” constitutes wages under the Iowa Wage Payment Collection Act.
