Case No. 23-0833

Robert Teig
v.
Vanessa Chavez, Alissa Van Sloten, Patricia G. Kropf, Elizabeth Jacobi, Brad Hart, and Teresa Feldmann,

In this open records law case brought pursuant to Iowa Code chapter 22, Robert Teig, acting pro se, appeals the district court’s grant of summary judgment in favor of Vanessa Chavez, Alissa Van Sloten, Patricia G. Kropf, Elizabeth Jacobi, Brad Hart, and Teresa Feldmann, who are Cedar Rapids city employees and council members. Teig argues: (1) there is no attorney-client privilege exemption from public record disclosure; (2) job applications are not exempt from disclosure; (3) Iowa Code chapter 22 does not authorize a city to charge general search and retrieval fees; and (4) the district court incorrectly found injunctive relief is not an available remedy under chapter 22.
