Candidate interview schedule for Iowa Court of Appeals vacancies

Des Moines—Today, the State of Iowa Judicial Nominating Commission posted the interview schedule for the thirty Iowans who have applied to fill the two vacancies on the Iowa Court of Appeals that occurred when Chief Judge David Danilson retired on January 4, 2019, and Judge Christopher McDonald filled the Supreme Court vacancy on March 7, 2019.

Iowa Court of Appeals to Hear Oral Arguments at University of Iowa College of Law

Des Moines, IA. The Iowa Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments in nine cases Wednesday, April 3, and Thursday, April 4, in the Levitt Auditorium in the Boyd Law Building at the University of Iowa College of Law, 130 Byington Rd, Iowa City, beginning at 9:10 a.m. both days. The hearings are open to the public and the court encourages people to attend.

Iowa Court of Appeals to Hear Oral Arguments at Washington High School

The Iowa Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments Thursday, April 4, beginning at 1:20 p.m. in the Washington Area Performing Arts Center in Washington High School, 1111 South B Avenue, Washington, Iowa. The court will hear two cases. Following the oral arguments, the court of appeals judges will take questions from the audience.  The hearings are open to the public, and the court encourages people to attend.

Judicial Nominating Commission will concurrently select nominees for two Iowa Court of Appeals vacancies

The State Judicial Nominating Commission, which is responsible for selecting nominees for appointment to the Iowa Supreme Court and the Iowa Court of Appeals, announced today it will begin accepting applications to fill Judge Christopher McDonald’s seat on the Iowa Court of Appeals.  Judge McDonald’s last day on the Iowa Court of Appeals will be March 6, 2019.  He will begin serving as a justice on the Iowa Supreme Court on March 7, 2019. The commission has sixty days from February 21, 2019, to send a slate of nominees to the Governor, who makes appointments to the court.

Judicial Nominating Commission begins process for selecting nominees for Iowa Court of Appeals vacancy

The State Judicial Nominating Commission, which is responsible for selecting nominees for appointment to the Iowa Supreme Court and the Iowa Court of Appeals, announced today it will begin accepting applications for the vacancy that occurred when Chief Judge David R. Danilson retired January 4, 2019.

Iowa Supreme Court Schedules Special Evening Session in Des Moines

Des Moines, January 31, 2019— The Iowa Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the case Mitchell v. City of Cedar Rapids, et al., during a special evening session in Des Moines, Tuesday, February 5, at 7:00 p.m. in the Supreme Court Courtroom on the fourth floor of the Judicial Branch Building, 1111 East Court Avenue. 

The evening session is open to the public and provides an opportunity for Iowa residents, who may not be able to attend the court's regular morning and afternoon sessions, to watch the court conduct oral arguments.
