Judge Moore Named Chief Judge of Second Judicial District

Iowa Supreme Court Chief Justice Susan Christensen has appointed District Court Judge Amy Moore as Chief Judge of the Second Judicial District of Iowa.  Judge Moore succeeds Chief Judge Gregg Rosenbladt whose term as chief judge will end December 31, 2025. Judge Rosenbladt will continue as a district court judge and serve as assistant chief judge. Judge Moore will begin serving as chief judge on January 1, 2026.

Iowa Supreme Court to Hear Oral Arguments in Historic Supreme Court Courtroom in the Iowa State Capitol

On Tuesday, October 7, the Iowa Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in a special session in the historic Supreme Court Courtroom in the Iowa State Capitol, 1007 E. Grand Avenue, Des Moines. The oral arguments are open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m.

Student and Teacher Resource Page for United States and Iowa Constitutions

To help prepare students and teachers for the upcoming America 250 Celebration, the Iowa Judicial Branch and The Iowa State Bar Association have created a one-stop resource to better understand the importance of the United States and Iowa Constitutions. The Constitution Day 2025 page on the Iowa Judicial Branch website presents a constitutional case argued before the Iowa Supreme Court, educational videos, and podcasts about the Iowa Constitution and the courts. Supreme Court Announces 2025-2026 Adjudicative Term, Including Special Sessions

The Iowa Supreme Court today announced its 2025-2026 adjudicative term calendar. The schedule includes special evening sessions in Des Moines, special sessions at Drake and Iowa law schools, and three special sessions in communities around the state to hear oral arguments. The adjudicative term, when the supreme court hears oral arguments and writes the majority of its published opinions, is from September 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.

Supreme Court Approves Grants to Support Civil Legal Services for Low-Income Iowans

Iowa Supreme Court has approved $1,177,030 in grants to nonprofit programs that provide legal assistance to low-income Iowans with civil legal problems. The court awarded grants to fourteen different organizations throughout Iowa. The grants are funded by the Interest on Lawyers' Trust Account (IOLTA) program. With this year's grants, the supreme court has awarded more than $27 million in IOLTA grants since the program began on July 1, 1985.
