Admission by Examination

The Iowa Board of Law Examiners oversees the process of admission to the bar of Iowa. The admission process covers those that are required to take an examination to gain admission as well as attorneys licensed from other jurisdictions who wish to practice in Iowa.  If you are already licensed in another jurisdiction, learn how to become licensed in Iowa. Bar Examination Announcements

Upcoming Deadlines and Events:

• The application deadline for the February 2025 Iowa Bar Examination is November 1, 2024.  The February 2025 exam will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott in Ankeny on February 25-26, 2025.
• The application deadline for the July 2025 Iowa Bar Examination is April 1, 2025.  The July 2025 exam will be held at the Holiday Inn Des Moines Airport Conference Center on July 29-30, 2025.
