Information to Bar Applicants about the impact of COVID-19 on bar admission, application, and examination may be found here.

 

The Iowa Board of Law Examiners oversees the process of admission to the bar of Iowa. The admission process covers those that are required to take an examination to gain admission as well as attorneys licensed from other jurisdictions who wish to practice in Iowa.  If you are already licensed in another jurisdiction, learn how to become licensed in Iowa. Bar Examination Announcements

News of Interest:

Law students who wish to take the bar examination in Iowa need to remember to file a Law Student Registration form. Information regarding the deadlines and fees can be found here.

Upcoming Deadlines and Events:

  • The 2020 July Admission Ceremony will be conducted remotely on September 18, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. and is optional.  Successful applicants will file a written attorney oath with the Office of Professional Regulation and will receive information on how to view the remote ceremony after exam results are announced.  Results of the July 2020 Iowa Bar Examination are expected to be released Friday, September 11, 2020.
  • The 2021 February Bar Examination will be held on February 22-24, 2021 at the Hy-Vee Hall Convention Center in Des Moines.
